--- "Mitt Romney Made Millions from the Rescue of Detroit" as 25,000 GM jobs went to China
--- " Investigative reports reveal how Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney made some $15 million on the auto bailout and that three of Romney’s top donors made more than $4 billion for their hedge funds from the bailout.
--- As part of a massive government bailout, U.S. taxpayers paid $12 billion to save auto parts maker Delphi Corporation. Out of that taxpayer money, three billionaires and their partners took in a profit of over $4 billion. One big winner, with a profit of over 4,000 percent, were the billionaires’ silent partners, Ann and Mitt Romney. The Romneys made at least $15 million, and as much as $115 million.
--- Our investigation began in Africa in the Congo. This is Greg Palast reporting. We are hunting for a vulture, a so-called vulture fund financier, this man, Paul Singer. Singer’s vulture fund seized $90 million out of foreign aid given the Congo, which could have been used to end a cholera epidemic. Singer’s vulture tactics are now outlawed in England and all over the world, but not in the U.S.A., certainly not here in Detroit, where we found Singer’s vulture fund feasting on the corpse of another victim, the once-world-leading Delco auto parts division of General Motors.
--- DELCO AD: Power that can’t get old before it’s sold. Delco dry charge battery, made by the Delco-Remy Division of General Motors.
--- So far, Romney and partners have pocketed over $4 billion. Then the billionaires gave Romney a million dollars each for the Republican campaigns. Nevertheless, Romney accused Obama of conflicts.
--- Documents reveal that a government bailout check was in fact cashed by none other than Ann Romney. It says that Ann Romney had a hunk of Mitt’s vast fortune in Elliott Management, Paul Elliott Singer’s vulture fund. Working our way between the limousines in front of his office, we wanted to ask Mr. Singer about his special financial deal with the Romneys. But he turned us down. The Romney campaign refuses to tell us exactly how much they made from the bailout, nor reveal their 2009 taxes.
--- ANN ROMNEY: We’ve given all you people need to know and understand about our financial situation and about how we live our life.
--- To cover up their payday and avoid taxes, the vulture funds have moved the headquarters of Delphi from Michigan to Jersey—not New Jersey, but the Isle of Jersey off the coast of France, a notorious tax haven.
--- Governor Romney wrote, "Let Detroit go bankrupt." And it did. Of the 25,000 UAW members at Delphi, every single one lost their job. Delphi once had 29 factories in the U.S., now just one. Today, GM still gets its parts from Delphi, shipped from the plants that the Romney hedge funds have moved to the People’s Republic of China.
Wow. Thanks for showing us what a shrew businessman Romney was on our govts reckless spending spree. The man saw a bunch of morons offering a pot of gold and he took it. Why would he not? He told the morons not to offer the pot of gold but they did so he took it. The IRS has no issue with Romneys taxes so why should we?
Shocking information but not surprising.
It makes average Americans look very naivete to consider that this is the status quo with these kind of people and a major driver toward "Supply side economic/trick down" money policy that rewards these people at great cost to the American people.
The SPAM-bot is up early.
I know that you have a hard time reading details, and prefer stupid sound bites. Maybe you should try the truth instead of watching commercials.
What could you possibly know about the truth????
CNN fact check: Obama lied about the opt-Ed NYT piece about Romney and his Detroit statement.
So for all the demos who claim Romney is a liar, we now know that both men are liars.
"So for all the demos who claim Romney is a liar, we now know that both men are liars."
Oh, I'm sure they know that cognitively. But desperation to find a team to identify with will probably cause some to continue to not internalize that in totality.
You argue for living? Sounds like a good cause.
I'd recommend cutting back on your caffeine, though.
I guess we could have let Bain bail out GM, then they could have shipped all the jobs to China.
Bankruptcy and re-organization generally means 1) Re-Organization .... which leads to 2) Plant closures and/or outsourcing
Also, the bankruptcy judge could have ruled for the bankruptcy to be Chapter 13, which is liquidation. All assets sold and distributed to creditors
The actual debt relief received via bankruptcy is offset by huge legal and accounting fees. I was with a company that went thru and emerged from bankruptcy. When all was said and done, it would have been far better not to declare.
Because he has to run as a republican.
"Without bridge loans from the government, there was no private capital available at the time to get them through bankruptcy"
That is pure speculation not fact. Let's ask this question: If you owned a business and needed financing advice, are you gonna ask Romney or Obama?
I'd probably talk with a financial adviser, preferably one who didn't have a vested interest in the loans, first.
Ignorance and misinformation! Moving on!
Considering that you're trolling it's apparent you know that Romney is behind in every poll, often not by a slim margin and with the EC system Obama is a 7-3 favorite to win the election.
Yay, misinformation! We can all find links to support any statistics we want without giving any context to the value of the numbers. A limited poll from Rasmussen has very little bearing on how the election will turn out. As far as the EC is concerned I'm surprised 'The Examiner' believes Romney won Virginia from Obama.
I know, I've been reading your and SP's posts and think it's a fun way to post and argue. So what I said is still true - Romney is behind in every poll. It's okay, though - after four more years of Obama you'll be in an even better place and be in an even bigger tizzy and can start arguing over how terrible having a strong market and positive social steps have been. Just like the last four years it all because of an improving market and having more rights returned to the people.
It's not a Democracy, it's a Republic. There's a difference. Sorry, are those words too big?
Throwing tantrums is a sure-fire way to prove to us that you're capable of adult discourse.
I saw that comment as a personal attack. I will continue to remove comments like that, just as I do with every comment I see as a personal attack against you. And there are no protected posters. Everyone has agreed to the terms of service, and is expected to abide by them.
His question is a common, rhetorical question. Your comment insinuated he was using cocaine. While his comment wasn't particularly friendly, it wasn't a personal attack.
Can we just agree that they're both high and move on?
BABBOY: Kansas used to have 7 votes and actually 8 at one time, but now only 6. Shows the irrevelence of the State in terms of national politics. It appears that the Electoral College may be the deciding factor in this election regardless of the popular vote outcome. In Kansas, really no one's vote really counts in the Presidental Election, Democrat votes are lost in the GOP landslide, and the same issue if you a a GOP voter, your vote is lost because of the same reason. This year, it appears that an individual's vote really counts only in the 7 or 8 swing states, the rest of the States are a foregone conclusion. If the old tenant of "One Individual, One Vote" really means something, the Electoral College concept is fraudulent. Two more equitable solutions would be (1) requiring the individual States to vote in the Electoral College by assigining votes based on proportionality or better yet (2) do away with the Electoral College and utilize the National Popular Vote to determine the winner.
Exactly. The President should be elected by the popular vote and NOT the electoral college. It's obscene that we're still carrying that dead horse around in 2012. Oh, and thank you for your service to our country, rabbit.
LJW's leftist editorial bias is showing:
Mitt's identified in the poll as 'republican' but Barack Millhouse Nixon is not. hmmm.
in a poll it was found that after last night's debate that far more people were less likely to vote for Obama than for Mitt. Obama's bad behavior turned a lot of people off.
both he and jawbone joe biden acted like bullies while their administration supposedly is fighting bullying in the schools. hmmm.
