Ed Taylor's herpetology research while at Kansas University

Ed Taylor is known as the father of Philippine herpetology, which is the study of reptiles and amphibians. Taylor spent his whole teaching career at KU while not out in the field. He discovered many species, a few of which are still housed in the Natural History Museum.

Snow removal crews hard at work in Downtown Lawrence

In order to preserve valuable downtown parking spaces, city plows move the snow from the driving lanes to the center of the roads. Once the snow stops, city crews then come through and, block-by-block, haul the snow out of downtown to the city's maintenance yard in east Lawrence. As they do it, they shut down different blocks in order to give the heavy equipment room to work.
