What do they mean by lottery? Powerball, never. I'll buy a $1 scratcher every blue moon when I'm getting gas or something. Win something worthwhile every blue moon's worth of blue moon's.
When I worked in the gas station, I always felt sorry for the poor schmucks who bought $10 to $20 worth of lottery tickets a day. All of them always said that they came out ahead, too. I thought about asking how detailed of cost/benefit records they kept on the subject, and thought better of it.

If someone tells me it's over $200 million, I might buy one if I happen to be in a store with a machine, but otherwise no. I figure $1 or $2 per year isn't going to break the bank.

Never! I work too hard for my money to give it away. I don't go to casino's either. Just not my thing...
My favorite is when you see people struggling to put food on the table go out and buy $20 worth of lotto tickets...smooth move with your odds there, Einstein.

$2 per week usually, never any more than that. I hit the Hot lotto for $1500 in March, 2009 so still playing with house money.

I think a better question is what is the percentage of lottery players that are on some form of government assistance! That would be very interesting to know.
