Easy, Babboy...turn off the computer and go back to SportsCenter, consumer1 may have just been stating the obvious - a question about sports is, afterall, all about sports.
And why shouldn't 9th graders be able to play HS sports? They do in districts with 9-12 HS and in some small towns I've heard of 8th graders who play V-sports.

"They already can."
Not totally. They only can if that sport isnt offered in Jr high ( Golf, Soccer etc) or go up after thier season ( Track) to compete in some events.

Hey Pssst ant babyboy, I was referring to something much larger than your small brain can understand. But typical response from you.

YES! Just like all the other 9th graders in the Sunflower League (and pretty much the entire state of Kansas.)

It depends on who is paying for it...Is the already broke school system going to be paying to bus the middle schoolers to the high school so they can play sports? If the parent's are going to be doing the transportation, then why not? But only if that sport is not offered at the middle school level. At a time when budgets are not balanced they should do away with all the extras that cost money.

Are there Lawrence 9th graders who attend high school?
d_prowess 3 years, 3 months ago
I think the question that relates more to the issue at hand, is should 9th graders be able to move up to any HS (10-12 grade) level AFTER the season has already started?
That is what this girl is doing. Free State has already been practicing and fielding a team for months and the question is should a 9th grader be able to make the move up just because her 9th grade season is over.

i dont see why they just integrate it as a 9-12 high school and 6-8 middle school. should've really thought about that when they built the new high school.

The few (maybe 1, who is going to 9-12 next year) sunflower league schools who are not yet 9-12 already move up the 9th graders to the high school after their season is over, to play jv and c team. VERY, very few of them make the move to varsity. I don't think this freshman would make that kind of impact, so perhaps he wants to give her jv experience.
And some of these varsity teams in the sunflower league would chew her up and spit her out.

HOLD ON MOM, IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN KENNEDY PLAY, THEN YOU BETTER NOT MAKE THAT STATEMENT. SHE IS THAT GOOD AND COULD START FOR THE 5-8 LIONS RIGHT NOW, BUT D_PROWESS HIT IT ON THE HEAD, SHOULD SHE MOVE UP AFTER THE SEASON HAS ALREADY STARTED.

It's all about who you know and how much money you can fork out.

I don't understand why they attend middle school anyway. They are FRESHMAN, that means they should move up into the ranks of HIGH SCHOOL. It has been this way for years. Let the kids be kids, why should they miss out on a year of sports because the school system is from the middle ages? If you want to compensate your middle school, move the 6th graders up. Concept K-5th, 6-8, 9-12th. Seems logical to me. Let them play!!!

i just say no. let them continue to play with kids their age. and that is my opinion. and my vote does count.
