Isn't this some form of libel?? At any rate, this seems like a pretty nasty way of evaluating a person's career.

How on earthy could this be libel, kerplunkr? It's not like this poll counts for anything more than the drivel it is.

That should have been 'earth', not earthy!!

Informed, I think you need to look up the definition of libel. Although this is a matter of public opinion (hence the public poll), was it not possible for the superintendent to be painted in a negative light? I don't even know the guy and he apparently only did an average job within the lawrence school district. Earlier this morning those D and F ratings were a little higher than what they reflect now. I agree with you that this poll is drivel. Considering the LJWorld likes to pride itself on not damaging the integrity of others (yeah, right!), I find this pretty disgusting. BTW, libel can be defamation in the form of written words or images.

it's asking people's opinions on the job we think he did, just like when they ask the president's approval rating on the street. Although it may be "drivel" and doesn't really matter, it does show that the people in lawrence thought he have done a better job. The school board must have thought differently about him, since he was employed for so long.

Personally, I am happy to see him go. I had some dealings with him a few years ago and I found him arrogant and condescending.

I might be too, if I had to deal with some of the idiots that live in this town. I guess that it just comes with the job.Mr. Weseman was always polite to me, when I had reason to come in contact with him. I think that he did a pretty good job, all things considered.

So,Teacher101, your insinuation is that the superintendent imposed that schedule without any other factors considered. What about the teachers union, who insisted on the collaboration time that necessitates the short Wednesday schedules? Or the school board that ultimately approves those contracts? Or the State of Kansas that requires a minimum of minutes in the classrooms? Apparently you think that the superintendent operates in a vacuum and creates the schedules on a whim.In case you are wondering, I don't think that we should rubberstamp everything that the superintendent, teachers union, school board, state board or legislature does in regard to our children's education, but neither do I think that everything that they do is automatically bad just because I disagree with a few points or decisions.

teacher101: see http://www2.ljworld.com/news/2008/aug... Lawrence Education Association may not have the title union in their name, but its actions are the same as a union. Because of "open shop" laws in Kansas, no one is forced to join the Association, but the school district does acknowledge "the Lawrence Education Associationas the exclusively recognized professional employee organization and negotiation agencyrepresenting all district teachers." (from the Master Agreement) (And yes, I have been a member of a union for 20+ years)

kerplunker, for it to be libel it would have to be untrue. Reading the results it appears that the city has different opinions on how well Weseman performed. Would you say that was untrue? Also it would have to cause him some harm, which would be a silly thing to assert about some online opinion poll.

I guess I was edited, (omitted), because I KNOW too much?? Am, watching, sunflower. Will be on a different line. BTW, Sunflower, as a company you suck. And, (legally), you are just about to higher your rates by paying my civil action. Same old thing to you. Right, Dolph?i will keep you honest. -hammer.
