Scenebooster...a lot of people lost to a lot of different teams, and (right now) it's worked out for MU & WV. Personally, though the defeat was very hurtful, I want to see MU beat OU which would probably send us to the Fiesta Bowl, and even though we don't like Missouri, I hate all the other conferences more, so it would be nice to see the Big XII on top of college football.

I hate Mizzou more than all the other conferences. Too bad our 'home' game was there.

How about this? I read somewhere on the Internet that KU and Georgia might have an outside shot of playing for the championship. I laughed at that but then got to thinking about the wildest of scenerios. The BCS would have problems if Mizzou beat Oklahoma by 30 or more and Pitt. won at W. Virginia. Dreaming? Yes, of course. Possible? Yes, of course. Think of it this way. Mizzou wins big and W. Virginia loses at home to an unranked team. KU should gain some points back because they played the #1 team so close. Ohio St. just recently lost at home to an unranked team. Georgia has two loses and didn't even make it into the league championship game. There would be an argument for a rematch of KU and MU in the championship since KU's only lose was by 8 to the number 1 team on a neutral site. Wouldn't that be fun? Hey...we can dream. Didn't FSU and Florida U. play in a rematch for the national championship several years ago?

Holy cow Larry! "If if's and but's were candy and nuts we'd all have a merry christmas..."
I think that is taking the optimism just a little too far! Nice to hope though!

If OU beats MU, where does that put Kansas? They would have a better record than MU, but they would have lost to a team OU beat twice. OU and MU might then both be ranked higher than Kansas. I think OU will be better prepared for MU than KU was, and they will spank the Tigers. That pretty much leaves WV and Ohio State for the National Championship, and leaves Kansas, as the third-best team in the Big-12, to the Cotton Bowl.

Tough decision. If Mizzou wins, KU should get a shot at the Fiesta Bowl. If Mizzou loses, KU is looking at Cotton. You know the bowl system sucks when it provides an incentive to root for Mizzou. Just another reason why there should be a playoff system. Well... that, and Rule 4 of the BCS selection criteria:

"4. Notre Dame will have an automatic berth if it is in the top eight of the final BCS Standings."

um yeah, so what is the point behind "rule 4"

maybe ku should try and get a rule put in for them........

Rule 4 is there to recognize that, at one time, long, long, ago, in a galaxy far, far away, Notre Dame was considered a BCS quality school while being an independent. Without a BCS conference to win, ND would have had to compete for an "at large" bid with the rest of the common folk. This simply would not do for the Irish faithful.

So, they threw them a bone and gave them an automatic bid clause. Not that it appears that it will be used anytime in the next 10 years.
