Donna Roush and her son, Jared, 9, stand silent while holding anti-abortion placards Sunday near the intersection of 23rd and Iowa streets. The National Life Chain, which takes place annually on the first Sunday in October, brought 65 people to the corner for a 1 1/2 hour protest, organizer Joe Reitz said. The protests have been going on for the past two decades. The national movement invites churches to organize the events. Douglas County Kansans for Life and Kansas University Students for Life took part in the event.
