As a former employee & buisness owner that did work for them for over three years, I URGE YOU TO SPEND YOUR MONEY ELSEWHERE. The owner, Greg Keenan doesn't pay his taxes, doesn't pay his employees, regularly threatens them & even physically assulted several of them. I have witnessed this firsthand, as well as his excessive drug use. This is all factual, google him or his company and nothing but bad will pop up. I don't care how good the slice is, because the guy who made it has his paycheck bouncing and your money will go straight up Greg Keenans nose.... I prefer not to support such @holes

They seem to have a lot of turnover. Every week or month a new group of employees.

Papa Kenos smells off inside. Not something I like in a restaurant. Food didn't kill me, but wasn't very warm.

A Lawrence institution for sure! Unfortunately the quality of food has been tainted more than once by issues of financial misfeasance. Too bad because the pizza is really awesome. I leave a bit extra in the tip jar to help ease my conscious and truly hope their struggles all work out in the end for the employees, state, and the business.

Unlike most pizza shops, Papa Keno's attraction is pizza by the slice. A huge NY style slice becomes a palette of topings either specified by you or chosen from a vast menu up on the wall. I tend to go for spinach and jalapenos. The topping are slathered on and put into the oven to crisp up and become one with the tasty crust sauce and cheese.

The breadsticks here are dense slices of the pizza crust crisped up and fancied with sauce and some extra garlic and oil. It's like eating the crusts left over from a pizza. I'd never trust someone who doesn't eat the crust from a pizza. They are missing the key point of the pizza and I would thus question their judgement on everything from world peace to the health care reform. People who don't like the crust are just wrong.

I have to agree with mawalker33. Not knowing any of the staff personally at either papa kenos or rudy's i would say that rudy's would indeed be a preferred choice. I have been to papa keno's several times and finally will quit going due to the lack of knowledge by the staff on how to deliver acceptable customer service, as well as a similar lack of knowledge on how to run their own cash registers and process a gift card. Most of the employees are unfortunately rather unfriendly towards their customers and dont appear to have been trained properly on their equipment.

My family's favorite place to get a slice of pizza! They have the best slices ever with the best ingredients available in town! Spinach, broccoli, feta, sun dried tomatoes - the best! Great atmosphere and great employees!

terrible management. manager zach who works there is incompetent and treats people like they are not even customers, save yourself a headache and head down the street to rudys pizzeria. you'll get better pizza and they actually appreciate their customers.

Wow not a nice review and a bit personal! I've never had a bad experience with any employee and think the pizza is awesome!

I agree with justmesally99! Very personal! Do you work for, or know someone who does, at Rudys? Every experience i've had at Rudys was "meh". I had Papa Keno's for the first time a few days ago, and while yes it was very much like a college town pizza joint I enjoyed it.

Best slice of pizza in town, and probably the biggest, my personal favorite: artichoke hearts, feta, and sausage. Yum!
