O'Connell Youth Ranch, Inc. was established in 1975 through a generous land gift from Mrs. Elsie O'Connell and her late husband, Dan, of 120 acres of beautiful farm land just east of Lawrence. The O'Connells had a great desire to help male youth in Kansas whose lives are in serious turmoil because of family or personal life crisis.
O'Connell Youth Ranch, Inc. was incorporated in 1976 and is a non-profit organization ran by a Board of Directors.
O'Connell Youth Ranch, Inc. is designed to give young boys a second chance for a fresh start in life and often succeeds with it's proven Family Teaching Model program. Necessary life skills are constantly taught and reinforced by example and role play. In a real way, this residential home setting helps boys learn to help themselves prepare for the challenging and competitive world awaiting them.
Our Mission Statement:
To provide a safe and caring Christian family environment building a better life for troubled boys. To provide the opportunity for physical, emotional, social and spiritual growth within a family structure that will assist them in developing the skills necessary to return to their homes and become constructive members of their communities.
