Turkish filmmaker Pelin Esmer will introduce and present her award-winning feature Watchtower. The film follows two souls who struggle with haunted pasts in the remote hills of the Turkish countryside in this powerful feature from a rising star of international cinema. After the screening, there will be time for questions.
Esmer was born and raised in Istanbul, Turkey. She began her career by taking classes from Yavuz Ozkan, a legendary Turkish director, then began lecturing on documentary filmmaking at Istanbul's Kadir Has University, all while working on foreign projects. In 2005 Esmer founded her own film company, Sinefilm. Her first film is called Oyun (The Play), and received many awards around the world.
Watchtower is her second film and has won five awards at the Adana Golden Boll International Film Festival, including Best Director, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress, Best Supporting Actor and best Cinematography.
