A massage therapist was re-arrested Wednesday after being charged last week with raping a 19-year-old female client at a Lawrence massage business.

Lawrence resident Joshua Salazar, who will turn 32 on June 21, was initially arrested shortly after the April 29 incident at Lawrence Thai Massage, 951 E. 23rd St., but he was released pending the investigation. He was re-arrested Wednesday morning, pursuant to a warrant, at 1461 U.S. Highway 40, near Teepee Junction. The warrant paperwork indicates that he is being held on a $500,000 bond and was required to surrender his passport.

Salazar has been charged with one count of rape by force or fear. Lawrence police said last month that they were dispatched to Lawrence Thai Massage moments after the incident occurred and that crime scene technicians had collected evidence at the site.

Police asked anyone who visited Lawrence Thai Massage and experienced inappropriate behavior to contact investigators at 785-843-0250 and reference incident L26022843 or ask to speak to a detective about the investigation.

Salazar is the second male massage therapist to have recently been accused of criminal sexual conduct in Douglas County.

Aaron Paul Borger is accused of sex crimes against multiple women at Om Grown Yoga in Baldwin City between March 2024 and April 2026.

Massage therapist Aaron Borger at Om Grown Yoga & Wellness Collective in downtown Baldwin City was arrested earlier this spring and charged with multiple sex crimes. Borger is also facing a civil lawsuit over the alleged crimes, as the Journal-World reported.
