LCNS is an amazing preschool experience for the whole family. As a coop, parents are involved in both their child's educational experience and the school's operations. The atmosphere for both students and their families is inviting and nurturing. As a parent, I made some of my best friends while participating at the school and my son still loves to go back to visit and play at the school and tells everyone how great his preschool was. The school's emphasis on social-emotional development and positive behavior support transformed him from a shy 3-year-old into confident, eager-to-learn kindergarten-ready student who makes friends easily and loves playing and interacting with any kid he meets. Be aware, LCNS is also a big commitment for parents since it requires participation in the classroom and on committee that run the school, but it is SO worth the experience!
LCNS is a wonderful place for children to grow and learn. The cooperative nature of the school helps children - and parents - learn about the values of community, collaboration and cooperation. The "Little Red Schoolhouse" is a long-standing fixture of the Lawrence community. Not only did my child get a great education, I learned how to be a good community member. It is truly a magical place.
