Tall Face Technology™ ------ Why YOU need it!
The tall face putter design is a performance enhancing technology much like cavity back irons and oversized drivers. The characteristics of this new technology produce improved and consistent distance control over conventional putters. This consistency is achieved by ensuring that the putter face will contact the ball at its equator despite subtle variations in the individual’s putting technique.
How It Works
The TFT™ putter face is not only taller; it has a very slight convex curvature. If the hands are slightly ahead of the ball or slightly behind at impact the ball is still struck in the center of its equator. If the putter face is descending at impact or has completed its apex and starts back up before contacting the ball, the ball is still contacted at the equator. Combinations of these various scenarios will still contact the ball at or very close to the center line. TFT™ creates a precise impact despite imperfections in an individual’s putting stroke, resulting in more consistent distance control than a recreational golfer could ever achieve using a conventional flat face putter. TFT™ consistently rolls the ball more smoothly with less skip, hop, or bouncing than flat face putters when a less than technically excellent stroke is delivered. It is also important to mention that TFT™ outperforms conventional putters with respect to variations in the distance of the putting surface to the sole of the putter.
Advantages over Conventional Putters
When a flat face putter with loft strikes the ball with the hands behind at impact, additional loft is added and the contact point is well under the centerline of the ball. This promotes excessive back spin as well as causes the ball to hop. Distance control becomes inconsistent. If the sole of the putter is just grazing or very close to the putting surface as is common with most golfers, it is possible to strike the ball with the top edge of the putter. All of the heal/toe weighting or face insert material in the world cannot help this situation. Striking a putt with a traditional putter with your hands ahead at impact also imparts excessive back spin. Hands ahead with a downward attack angle will actually force the ball into the putting surface, resulting in a bouncing putt. Again, distance control is compromised. The TFT™ putter is simply more forgiving in all of these situations.
