Dear Dr. Colleen,
It is with heartfelt joy and appreciation that I am writing this letter to you and your staff members. This letter is in regards to my latest treatment appointments with you starting on April 8th, 2009 with subsequent appointments on April 16th and 30th.
My worst onset of ailments began on October 30, 2009 that included the following: severe headache, slurred speech, numbness and tingling of my right side, extreme skin flushing on my hands, face, and feet, balance problems, and blurred vision. I was sent home from work and called to make an appointment with my family medical doctor and was seen by him on November 1st, 2009. Although I have been plagued off and on with these symptoms on numerous occasions and for several years (not as severe), this onset was very different in that my blood pressure would spike and fall almost as fast as an ‘unnoticed blink of an eye.’ My slurred speech, red eyes and gaited walk were certainly the most noticeable symptoms to those around me at the doctor’s clinic.
On November 1st, 2009 my medical doctor sent me to Lawrence Memorial Hospital’s emergency room for a possible stroke or Multiple Sclerosis. I was there until November 7th, 2009 and under-went CT scans, MRIs, blood work, physical and speech therapy. I have seen two different neurologists, had an evaluation from a psychiatrist, (he said, “I was normal and not depressed,” which I kept telling everyone), home visits for more physical and speech therapy and so many different prescriptions for headaches that it would be too lengthy to list them here. I had moderate to severe headaches for over two months and never really felt like it was ever truly gone.
After two weeks of this sustained illness I lost my job, filed for disability had to learn to accept help from family, neighbors and friends. For the last four months I have been relearning how to use my right side and have taught myself how to write with my left hand, but not being able to drive has been the biggest inconvenience, besides all the pain.
Finally, on April 8th 2009 my husband said, “please let me call our chiropractor’s office and make you an appointment because I don’t care what the medical doctors tell you they are not giving you any relief for your pain.” I was seen the same day he called and truly I had more relief from my headache and foot pain after just one thorough treatment. I have had two more follow up treatments since then and am walking and talking better and am practically pain free!
If there ever is a next time for an onset like this past one, I am only seeing Dr. Colleen! Thank all very much for your great care and skill!
