A FIGURATIVE SCULPTURE WORKSHOP WITH MARY WEISERT AND MILES SCHACTER
LOCATION, PRAIRIE LOVESONG FARM, 13080, 230ST, LINWOOD, KS
Put on your apron, engage the 3 Dimensional part of your brain, and let out the latent sculptor who has been fantasizing making the leap from the 2D canvas into the realm of form. Join us for a day of clay. With the direction and instruction of Mary Weisert and Miles Schacter, we will construct an armature for a figure out of aluminum wire and build upon its form with clay to create our vision. The figure will be about a foot tall, in any pose you would like. It would be helpful to bring a sketch of what you would like to attempt. This is the process that one could use as the first step in creating a bronze, after which a mold would be made. It can also just be left to dry and enjoy as is.
Mary Weisert is a lifelong artist and sculptor, who received her degree from the Fayetteville Technical Institute in N. Carolina, has been sculpting and teaching for the past 25 years, and is the president of the Prairie Sculptors League. She is a figurative artist working in clay, wood, stone, and bronze. She teaches both group and private classes.
Miles Schacter is primarily a stone sculptor, doing innovative work, which often includes found objects. Miles also teaches workshops, and hosts an annual introductory course in the late spring.
