Donna Aldridge returns this year to present another fascinating and very useful program! She’ll demonstrate many of the various steps she takes to plan and paint a landscape, including tips about plein air painting, taking and working from your photographs, planning the composition, mixing colors, and so much more—plus painting the landscape! She’ll work in oil, but will make comparative references to
working in pastel, acrylic and watercolor, as well. Donna enjoys answering the questions everyone has, so you might want to make notes about things you would like to hear more about! Much of the information she’ll share can also be applied to painting other subjects, since she also enjoys painting portraits, figures and still lifes—and sees strong connections in the painting process between any subjects! Donna is an international award-winning painter with works in 25 countries, a writer and a popular teacher. Color––in fascinating relationships––excites her most,
played out on foundations of elegantly-engineered compositions with dynamic movement and balances, leading the viewer on a journey through each piece. Additional hallmarks of Aldridge’s award-winning paintings include a rich sense of light and shadow, of atmosphere and presence. Fluent in a broad range of mediums and subject matter, both plein air and in studio,
she has been featured in International Artist magazine, The Pastel Journal, Pastel Society of America Pastelogram, Kansas City Star, Overland Park Sun plus other mid-western publications including The Woods alumnae magazine for William Woods University, written after the unveiling at Aldridge Hall of her portrait of her father. She has also had a number of television appearances, often demonstrating painting — including a live broadcast from Aldridge Studios. Her popular Mastering Color DVD Series has sold on three continents. In the last several years, her work has focused primarily on oil and pastel painting.
