Douglas County Special Olympics offers year round sports training, education and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Special Olympics Kansas offers twenty-one sports and our athletes train and compete in ten of these sports. All sports are designed so that athletes of all skill levels can be successful. We have anywhere from four athletes to 50 athletes competing in various sports throughout the year. It is up to the athlete what sport they choose to participate in. Basketball, bowling and soccer are the sports with the largest number of participants.
