Good food with reasonable prices. Very friendly staff. All in all a terrific alternative to fast food.

Great Indian food, inexpensive, and fast. No place to sit, but in nice weather there are park benches in the park next door. Sweet!

DELICIOUS! Grabbed jasmin rice, chicken tikki masala and chicken curry. Split the rice in half and had lunch for 2 days. It was very tasty and had just the right amount of heat for me. Only thing I missed was the tandoori chicken drumsticks. They sell out of them fast so get there early!

Delicious! The owners are very nice people and the food is delicious! I think the food can definitely give the competitor a run for their money, if we help spread the word! :) My meal (that I could not eat all of but wanted to) consisted of Chicken Tikka Masala, Rice, Samosas and Lassi. The owner is also working on an Indian food cart called a Chaat! So there is even more to come! Very excited!! I will definitely become a regular!

I'm so glad that Sammi and his wife opened up this curry stand/mini store. It's great to not only be able to buy a pack of gum, chips, or a snack downtown but to also grab some delicious take away curry.
The food offerings are simple (typically Chicken Curry or Vegetable Curry) along with Nan, Samosas, and a lovely rice. There are also soda, Cha, and Mango smoothies. But the few items on the menu are all without exception excellent. Sammi and his wife have been cooking and selling their curry at their gas station (now sold) for years and it's always been excellent.
He and his wife are wonderfully personable, they always look at the name on your credit card, call you by your first name, and remember you when you come back. Consummate professional small business owners. It's hard not to leave with a smile after they chat you up while you pay.
There are (currently) no tables or chairs in Curry in a Hurry (which I hope they change sometime) but you can always walk around the corner to the tables at South Park.
When I was in there last week with coworkers the place was busy with employees from the Courthouse and other local businesses all grabbing curry to take back to their offices. When we went around the corner to South Park there were no less than 3 picnic tables full of people with Curry in a Hurry. On a beautiful spring day it can't be beat.
I'd highly recommend it for anyone who wants very good Indian food in a hurry. I think it's a great offering that I hope they expand to add dishes and a few tables inside (for rainy days).

Great food and a nice owner. The curries, samosas, and beverages (especially the mango juice) are all incredible.

Great take-away meal for a great price. The chicken curry and jasmine rice was the best. Samosas, mango juice, chai tea, vegetarian options. You'll have the best take-home meal you've had in years. Support a local business that makes a superior product. With the park nearby, Curry in a Hurry is the perfect lunch spot.

Hands down the BEST curry in Lawrence!!!! Sammi's Curry in a Hurry has just the right amount of spice and is not loaded down with cream like other places that cause the food to just sit in your stomach. They have a larger selection of naan now since the move from the old location and it is awesome (one is like a thicker bread than other places and loaded with flavor and spice and is almost like a naan biscuit). They have a potato and pea curry that will knock your socks off and his chicken curry is tops! The chicken is not chewy (some places do not clean or cut their chicken right) but that has never happened to me with Sammi (and I have been eating his food for well over a year) and it almost melts in your mouth. The rice pilaf is so flavorful that you can eat it by itself due to it having some killer spices. The prices are very fair (and the fact that the food is amazing makes it a great value) and is very easy to park around his store but even better is that Sammi is one of the nicest people you will ever meet (no bs) plus it is a local business. Sammi also sells cigarettes, soda (pop), chips and some spices from India. You do not have to believe me but I challenge you to try his food once because that is all it takes to become hooked on it. I would also like to say that Sammi's wife makes all of the food and she is a curry master, thank you for your food!

Curry in a Hurry is exactly what the name says! You walk into the shop, pick up some curry (vegetarian or meat options), grab some naan and rice pilaf and pay for your meal. The curry is mild and full of flavor and the rice pilaf is perfect.
I'd recommend grabbing your curry and walking a block down the street to the Zen Garden, where you can eat your curry and enjoy the scenery. I only wish the curry had hot and spicy options, too!
