Kansas' 46th Governor has officially taken office. Governor Sam Brownback was sworn into the office this morning in downtown Topeka. 6News reporter Theresa Freed was there and she has the details on how the snow altered plans.

Lawrence works to clear streets, sidewalks after heavy snow
Four inches of snow blankets Lawrence, and the snow has barely let up. Street crews continue to work another 24-hour shift to handle the winter weather. 6News reporter Will DuPree explains where they plan to focus their clean-up routes.

The snow will come to an end but look for bitter temperatures in the mid teens and strong winds to cause blowing and drifting snow.

Snow storm causes accidents in Lawrence, kids take advantage of snow day
Lawrence got about five inches of snow Monday leading to school cancellations and snow-packed, slippery roads. Motorists struggled to stay out of the ditch and young sledders took to the slick slopes.

Sam Brownback's first Cabinet meeting
Just hours after being sworn into office on Monday, Gov. Sam Brownback, a Republican, convened his first Cabinet meeting. Brownback handed out laminated copies of five goals that he campaigned on during the November election and charged his cabinet secretaries to help achieve those goals. The goals are to increase Kansans' net personal income, private sector employment, the percentage of 4th graders reading at grade level, the percentage of high school graduates who are college-ready, and decrease the percentage of Kansas children living in poverty.

Sam Brownback sworn in as Kansas governor
Sam Brownback was sworn in as the 46th governor of Kansas on Monday, Jan. 10, 2011. The inauguration ceremony was held in the Kansas House chamber after being forced inside due to a snow storm.

Hagen Miller on binding a family treasure
Among the books amateur book-binder Hagen Miller hopes to restore is his family's 1854 Bible. The book presents a special challenge because of stains, tears and other damage, but Miller says his biggest challenge is forgetting the book is so personal.
