A 35-year-old Lawrence man was arrested Saturday morning after pointing a gun at his girlfriend during a fight. No one was injured during the incident.
Energy program seeing limited use
A multi-million dollar energy program in the state has not been getting as much use from residents as thought. The program provides some funding for home improvements that increase energy efficiency.
Preparedness fair urges disaster readiness
A disaster preparedness event in Lawrence Saturday urged residents to be ready for potential disasters, natural and otherwise. Items were given away for free to help people begin building disaster kits.
Eudora residents speak out against sand pit
A proposal to build a sand quarry near a water source in Eudora is meeting some opposition from area residents. The company has proposed to build the facility near the river.
New river access sign dedicated
A new sign marking a Kansas River access point was dedicated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Sunday. The sign includes a map noting all the area river access points.
Culture festival draws diverse crowd
The Festival of Cultures held in Lawrence during the weekend brought together a diverse collection of local residents. The festival featured food and performances native to local residents' cultures.
Local transit services receive praise
KU on Wheels and the T received some praise for their ridership increases during the last several years. Changes in rider requirements have help increase numbers.
Jayhawks roll over non-conference foe
The Jayhawks' football team got back on track Saturday against New Mexico State University. The offense was clicking as KU posted 42 points.
Kale Pick sidelined with leg injury
Second string quarterback Kale Pick has injured during the Jayhawks' game Saturday. He will be out as many as three weeks with a leg injury.
Area runners compete in high school classic
Area high school athletes were showcased during the weekend in the annual High School Cross Country Classic. Runners from Free State and LHS competed in the meet.
