Farmers looking forward to pumpkin crop
Area farmers are looking forward to what is expected to be an average yield of pumpkins this fall. The average crops will be an improvement over last year's small collection.

Constitution Day brings judges to town
Area judges from Topeka and Kansas City made the trip to Lawrence Wednesday as part of KU's plan for Constitution Day. The judges heard appeals and allowed the public to see how the appeals process works.

January robbery victim now suspect
A victim who reported a robbery back in January has turned himself in as a possible suspect in the incident. He is expected to appear in court Thursday.

Three injured in highway accident
Three people were injured, one seriously, in an accident on highway 59 Wednesday. One person was treated and released from the hospital while the other two were transported to area hospitals for further treatment.

Kobach wants end to birthright citizenship
Kris Kobach, who is running for Secretary of State, said Wednesday he wants to end birthright citizenship. Kobach has been in the news nationally for advising cities and states on cracking down on illegal immigration.

New hotel planned for northern Lawrence
A new hotel is in the works for northern Lawrence. The hotel will be located near Interstate 70 and the Holidome convention center.

Driving range open east of Lawrence
TwinOaks golf complex is now open again after being shut down for about four years. The driving range is currently open with a pitch-and-putt and mini golf course set to open in the spring.

District purchasing new timing system
The Lawrence school district is planning to purchase a new portable timing system for high school track and cross country meets. The system is required in order to hold regional and championship meets.

A Lawrence mom returned from a trip to California that was designed to raise awareness for childhood cancer. The mom shaved her head as part of the plan.

Caring for giraffe full-time job for vet
A veterinarian at the Topeka Zoo has been working to fix a baby giraffe's legs for the past few months. The process has been difficult but it has been successful so far.

KU volleyball falls short of 10th victory
The Kansas volleyball team fell to K-State Wednesday. A victory would have given coach Ray Bechard his 200th of his career, but instead the Jayhawks fell to 9-3 on the season.

Quarterback change positive for KU
After week one, the Jayhawks' football team looked to be in trouble. A change at quarterback sent the program in a 180 degree spin that saw them beat a nationally ranked team at home for the first time since 1984.

Head-on collision leaves one seriously injured
One person was seriously injured and two people sustained minor injuries after an multi-vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 59 north of Baldwin Junction Wednesday morning.
