Suspect in KU incident surrenders
The suspect in Friday's incident inside a KU residence hall surrendered to police Sunday afternoon. The man, who is not a KU student, will face charges from the incident as well as for prior warrants.

School district mulling new ideas

Driver arrested after high-speed chase
A driver was arrested on K-10 late Saturday night after leading police on a high-speed chase. No one was injured during the incident in which the suspect vehicle reached speeds of up to 100 miles per hour.

Topeka man arrested after showing gun
A Topeka man was arrested early Saturday morning after displaying a gun during an altercation in a parking lot near The Ranch. The man made no threats with the weapon during a fight between two groups of people.

Dollar General files North Lawrence plans
A grocery store may be coming to North Lawrence after the area spent nearly a decade without one. The Dollar General has filed plans with the city to construct a store in North Lawrence.

Basehor development hoping for boom
Development outside the Basehor area has city residents hoping for growth. A Dollar General store is currently being built in the area and should be finished by the middle of the summer.

Medical center makes way for ducklings
A mother and her 14 babies made their way through the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita on their way to water. A security guard helped escort the family.

LHS holds annual mud volleyball event
Students, teachers and staff from Lawrence High School gathered at Broken Arrow Park Sunday for their annual mud volleyball competition. The day-long event is a way to celebrate the end of the school year.

Jayhawk Invitational wraps up Sunday
The Jayhawk Invitational basketball tournament concluded on Sunday. Players from all across the country, including a KU recruit, participated in the sporting event.

Residents enjoy art in the park
Area residents were out in force Sunday to take in the sights and sounds of the annual Art in the Park event in downtown Lawrence. About 4,000 people enjoyed the weather and wares at the 49th annual event.
