Fire consumes North Lawrence apartments
An afternoon fire Sunday caused heavy damage to several apartment units at the Rose Garden complex near Fifth and Wisconsin streets. No one was injured in the fire.
Local residents oppose new shelter
A proposed site for a new homeless shelter in Lawrence has area residents flustered. The residents say the shelter and its proximity to local schools would have a negative impact on the community.
Investigation continues in cyclist's death
The investigation into a 20-year-old woman's death during the weekend is ongoing. No new information regarding the hit-and-run driver or the suspect vehicle has been released.
Jayhawks drop first game of season
The Jayhawks couldn't come up with enough last-minute magic to complete the comeback against the Buffaloes in Boulder on Saturday. KU suffered its first loss of the season, falling to 1-1 in conference play.
Runners take weekend race in stride

Haskell took on Friends University in its weekend game. The Fightin' Indians only managed seven points against the Falcons in their fifth loss of the season.
Blaze strikes apartment complex
Several apartment units were heavily damaged by fire Sunday afternoon when a blaze broke out at a complex at Fifth and Wisconsin streets.
