No presidents but I can do better. I drank a beer once with Dale Earnhardt. He took a chicken leg off my grill and threw it at Dale Jr. who happened by. Junebug caught it and munched on it as he walked on. "Damn good", he said. Interaction like that doesn't happen anymore.
Indyan had a long meeting with George W. (Washington, not the imbecile) once upon a time, but ultimately George decided to go with wood instead of rock. The rest is history.
Clinton, at a church service at Foundry United Methodist in DC. Hillary and Chelsea were with him.
I met Gerald Ford.
Met Clinton when he was governor (standing). My daughter met him when he was pres (standing). He made her uncomfortable. Maybe if he'd been sitting . . .
Hmm... can't remember if I met W or not... or whether he was sitting- or merely lame-, at the time....
Billy Johnson was our class president. I can't remember if he was sitting or standing when we first met in the 1st grade.
Gerald Ford on the Capitol steps in Topeka, February 12,1975 on my way to take my new baby girl home from the hospital.
Met Alexander Haig - he once thought he was the president...sort of.
No, but I met Jesse Jackson in a Chicken and Waffle House in LA.
That wasn't a joke.
I met Ford sitting in a golf cart. He was no longer president but he was sitting.
Bush 1 . Quale was with him as well. Just said Hi to Prez..chatted it up with Quale. He was actually pretty cool.
I did photograph the Empty Chair though.
Met Reagan in the mid 80's when he came to Shawnee Mission Northwest to give a speech. I was a cop at the time and was aiding in security for the visit. After the speech he talked with the security detail briefly and shook our hands. Greatest President who ever lived.
I don't remember Henry Truman. Duane Eisenhower was the earliest president I can recall.
Henry Truman when I was in the 6th grade.
Met Clinton and shook hands, but this was while he was campaigning and he was standing.
And Millard Filmore
Jimmy Hoffa. . . . Junior.
JFK while I was in Navy Boot Camp, fall of 1962.. A year later I was in the Med, with the sixth fleet, on alert.
FDR sat most of the time but he had a real excuse.
yes but he was standing at the time.
I met President Nixon
and if I ever did, I would hope he has the common courtesy to stand up to shake my hand.
