No. The USADA has no authority in determining whether he loses those titles or not.

I'm starting to wonder if he really did walk on the moon.

I guess I have always thought that if he were innocent, he should fight to the end, no matter the time and cost to it. When he gives up, after all of the years and work involved in getting to where he is, I go back to the thought process of, if there is smoke, their must be a little fire. We don't want to believe he is guilty of doping, but I have reached the conclusion that he is. You just don't walk away from 7 titles. Maybe, just maybe, to continue the fight he might have had to get on the stand and swear under oath, etc. and then he could have a Roger Clemmons case on his hands. Smart decision then to just drop it. He is not dumb, just foolish.

"According to the USADA, the evidence against Armstrong arose from "disclosures made to USADA [in June] by more than a dozen witnesses who agreed to testify and provide evidence about their firsthand experience and/or knowledge of the doping activity of those involved in the conspiracy as well as analytical data."

Floyd Landis, a native of Lancaster County and Armstrong's former teammate who was stripped of the 2006 Tour de France title because of doping, sent cycling authorities e-mails in 2010 accusing Armstrong and U.S. Postal team officials of breaking doping rules.

On Friday in San Diego, Landis, in court answering charges of wire fraud for lying to financial donors about his own drug use, said, "I really don't know what the solution is for the sport of cycling. That's not my issue anymore."

From a disgruntled cyclist they based conclusions thinking they have a case without blood or urine samples?

He passed the tests... I still believe it was a witch-hunt. Maybe he decided it was time to stop wasting energy on something he has been dealing with for 10 years.

Lance Armstrong is to be admired for giving up the fight and his titles. It is the mark of a humble man to reject titles given from the world. He knows in his heart what he did or did not do to win.

He didn't give up anything. He was screwed by the USADA.and stripped of his titles. He does not deserve the crap dished out by the USADA on allegations made by disgruntled cyclists who are not eve3n in the same class as he is.

Not that it matters, but he gave up fighting the charges of doping. I admire the man for that, not his titles nor his athletic ability. It is sad that he was treated badly, I agree. I do think what he has done for cancer research and in the lives of people affected by cancer is to be admired and there is no organization on earth that can take that away from him.

Remember Jesse Owens? The oversight committees - NCAA in the Paterno case, this outfit regarding Armstrong, etc. - justify their own existemce and display thier arrogance with penalties that shock the world. I feel a little differently about Armstrong - sorry that he rose to the top and that people couldn't stand that he is there. Everyone has to plan king of the mountain, I guess.

to KS - while I agree that he should fight if innocent, the other side is that they could bleed him dry of all resources in the fight, and even if he proved innocent, would have nothing left. Looks like he may have just made the prudent decision. Can't take away the actual accomplishments. I agree that people shouldn't cheat, but it appears to me that this was also nothing more than a witchunt fueled by those jealous. The ultimate judgment is to come much later and it appears hs is comfortable with facing that one.

I've talked to several pro cyclist about this story and they say what you did neo_star. They told me all the top riders cheat. People in living in glass houses are so dumb.

This is a witch hunt. He's passed over 500 drug tests, most having been at random. Of course the miserable cyclists who lost to him are going to say he 'probably' used drugs. By tryiing to obtain all his endorsement money, the USADA is just trying to rake in some funding for their own sorry little bureaucracy. Aside: when was Jon Corzine appointed to this board?

This "hero" passed many, many random drug tests. The only physical "evidence" was a possibly contaminated blood sample that was "consistent" with some doping agent, even though this blood sample had previously passed muster.

The real sad commentary is when someone is willing to accept (potentially) false accusations of someone's guilt, when scientific tests have proved negative.

Why do people have such strong opinions and post them when they really haven't educated themselves on the topic. Whether it's Lance or a local event such as a motor vehicle accident, everyone seems to know what happened even when they have no idea what they're talking about. Lance has failed tests.....this information has been out for close to a decade. What a bunch of sheep just bleating the PR crap shoved down their cake holes. Thanks for reminding me that I'm wasting my time reading this........... going for a ride now..........

Consider the source. The integrity of the US ant-doping agency is at at least as much in question as Lance Armstrong's. Too bad more and more government offices and officials these days partake of near criminal dishonesty.

No, I don't feel any different, but unlike most of the boobs answering "No" here I knew he was dirty all along. Big Tex is the king of performance enhancing drugs and would do anything to win. Anything. Do your research folks, a group of guys he trained with in a camp early in his career, about 75% of them ended up with the same cancer in the same location. Lance Armstrong is no American hero, he's a cheater and a liar.
