Sometimes, the neighborhood creates its own, just to slow down the $%&*@#s who fly through at about 60. Not that I know anything about it....

Traffic is OK though there is a neighbor lady who needs calming down.

We live on a street that is two blocks long. By the time people get to our house they're driving about 40. They really need a speed bump in the middle of the street.
puddleglum 1 year, 11 months ago
all streets in town should be limited in speed to about 20 mph...then we will all be safe. and we will have time to look at pretty people

HEY NOW, I don't come down to the bus stop and knock your 'profession' when you are on your knees working-so leave me alone.

I have an ancient oak tree on the corner of my yard. I have found numerous busted car parts on it and around it when people have missed the turn. I'm sure it calmed some of them down.

If it is the dangerous too small fake traffic circles like the ones that litter the neighborhood south of campus, no, NO NO. If you mean the speed bumps, yes. Those yellow sticks that don't allow legal turns or fire trucks, NO NO NO>

Yeah, they're workin' on it, though. It's called new 59 highway.

My neighborhood already has traffic calming devices in the form of massive alignment-wrecking tire-flattening potholes.
snap_pop_no_crackle 1 year, 11 months ago
According to merrill, potholes make good traffic-calming devices.

don't you feel calm now?
ksarmychick 1 year, 11 months ago
No but my neighbors need to teach their children and dogs to stay out of the street. I have almost hit the same kids and thier dog almost 6 times in 3 years. They think that just because they put up a stupid yellow "children playing" sign out in the driveway, that it means they don't have to teach thier children to not run out in the street in front of cars. I always drive below the speed limit in the neighborhood but these same kids seem to always run out in the street, ride their bike out in the street, and chase thier stupid dog out in the street only feet in front of my car. Seems to me that the parent's are asking for trouble and eventually the kids are going to end up being hit by a car that doesn't have time to stop. Speed bumps aren't a cure for parent's stupidity and lack of parenting.

And you can bet--those are exactly the kind of people who will sue the driver, the city, or anyone else they can blame if their kids get killed.

Ob boy, another stupid idea like the parking meters for the homeless. Spend spend spend on worthless things. City government at its best.

traffic calming device, feels a lot more sensitive/sophisticated than speed bump.
natural traffic calming devices - pothole, roadkill, tight curves equipped with stout hardwood trees
artificial traffic calming devices - concrete or asphalt speed bumps
independant1 1 year, 11 months ago
the bigger the speed bump or roadkill the calmer the traffic
frustratednks 1 year, 11 months ago
We don't need traffic calming devices, we need Drug repelling devices.....:)

I can't even get to my house without dealing with a stupid roundabout....and as far as "calming", i guess if you consider people accidently ramping through them or hitting the light poles around them "calming" then whatever....
