When he's good, he can be great. When he's bad, he really sucks, and he keeps on sucking, and he won't stop sucking.

My favorite player would have to have decent moral character. So, before I vote in this poll, I would like to know how many children Mr Collins has fathered, who is supporting them, and how he plans to raise them. Plus, I haven't forgetten the incident in the Jayhawk Towers elevator with the female employee. Have you?
pusscanthropus 3 years, 3 months ago
@edjayhawk: You said, "That's already been addressed. Next question please." I ask, "Where has it been addressed? Do you know the answers? If so, please share them. Because, if I remember correctly, Mr Collins allegedly sexually assaulted a woman who then filed a civil suit, and Mr Collins didn't even show up for court and was issued a warrant. Then, magically, the case disappeared. Plus, I could swear I remember reading Mr Collins is already a father.
Okay, I found it. Three kids (one deceased) at the time the following was written in 2008, so there could be more offspring. I'm sorry, but I don't think KU should recruit parent-athlete fathers when they can't pay child support. Because guess who's paying child support FOR him? That's right, the taxpayers.

I don't think he's that great of a player...he just seems to be good at the perfect times for KU. For example, last night he started 1-10 from the floor. That's terrible!
Yet, he hit some key baskets on the way to the win and played well for the last 8-12 minutes. He was absent in the first half though. Definitely a leader and a winner, but not a stat machine. His value seems to lie with his intangibles.

The real question is, have the Jayahwks won all these games the last 4 years because of Sherron? Or have they won all these games over the last 4 years because these are the best TEAMS they've ever had?

Top 5 guard all-time at Kansas, no doubt!

these comments about his children are utterly sickening. you all should feel ashamed. no player in our history has matured more in four years than sherron.
you are not real fans! you are pathetic and like to kick people when they are on top.

I have seen KU sports from the inside, so I don't have the religious zeal of many die-hard fans. I think having several children by the time you're twenty is utterly sickening. I think giving scholarships to student-athletes with children to support is utterly sickening. I think NCAA Division 1 scholarship athletes' children being supported by welfare is utterly sickening. I think sexual assault is utterly sickening too. I think forgetting all of the above because someone is a good basketball player is utterly sickening too.

If you can list your Top 100 KU bball players in order, you have too much time on your hands...

I think pusscanthropus has a point. I also think if it were a Missouri player we were talking about, everyone would be singing a different tune.
Either way, the question asked about Sherron as a player (as in basketball player). I think it's hard to debate his skills on the court. Sherron will have to answer to himself for his life choices.

@puss... the moron:
Sherron is 22 and has 2 children, the oldest being 3 years old. While it's not always the smartest thing to do, there's nothing immoral at starting a family at 18 or 19. He's here on scholarship because he's a great basketball player. There are other people who are at KU on scholarship because of academic excellence, and I bet a few of them may have children as well. Why don't you complain about them too? And how to you know how those children and their mother are supported?
Finally, the assault incident was completely dropped, which I guess means only one thing:
Bad trolls are bad.

And I like Kirk Hinrich better, mainly because he didn't have these up and down shooting streaks. However, both are tough players who know how to win.

I'm awfully curious to see how Sherron does in the NBA...my guess is not too well, unfortunately :(

"The real question is, have the Jayahwks won all these games the last 4 years because of Sherron? Or have they won all these games over the last 4 years because these are the best TEAMS they've ever had?"
2006-7 Team, 2007-8 Team, 2008-9 Collins, 2009-10 team.
"I also think if it were a Missouri player we were talking about, everyone would be singing a different tune."
Only the trolls. I, personally, would continue to not give a sweet $%^&. Kids will have a better future with him than with many, and that wouldn't change based on the color of his uniform.

This board has turned into a morality debate. Enough. Back on the topic. Better or as good as Sherron? For me at least:
Chamberlain LaFrentz Manning Rush Pierce Heinrich White Robisch Stallworth Chalmers
That's not the best 10, but certainly a great 10. Collins could be in this list or in the Top 20. I put him in the top 20 which was easy. It was a toss up for me--10 or 20. Anyone else?
Ricky_Vaughn 3 years, 3 months ago
Since I cannot quantify leadership, I'd have to use statistics to measure Sherron's greatness. KU has had a plethora of great players throughout their history, and statistically, I don't think Sherron is one of KU's greatest 10 players...maybe not even top 20.
@ jkilgore
What about Big Dub, Wayne Simien? I know his NBA career was (is?) practically nonexistent, but talk about a statistical monster in college! I have love for Aaron Miles too. The assists speak for themselves.
