So 13 people actually think that we'll be the first team ever to lose to a 16 seed. Classy. Go back to your Meth lab...
honeychild (Mel Briscoe) says…
i know, right? meth lab or manhattanites. same thing really.
catfishturkeyhunter (anonymous) says…
I dont think meth or manhattan has anything to do with it. KU is well known for folding in the first 2-3 rounds. Are they good? Sure they are. They have several titles to prove that. But honestly, they should probably have 3-5 more as much as they have gone in to the tournament as a #1 seed. They are known for choking when it matters most.. Im just sayin..
sundancewierdo (anonymous) says…
Hey catfish, I'm not sure I'd call it choking since every other no. 1 seed loses sometime too. The big dance is the toughest tournament in sports, and lots of teams are known for losing. Each year there is only 1 team out of several hundred that wins it all. I'm not sure you can say that any team "chokes".
kuphillyjim (anonymous) says…
true, lack of focus by this team over extended periods does give me cause for concern for an early exit like other years, but the talent gap between them and the lower seeds seems more extreme this year... get out of the top 10 and its hard to find a team capable of making a run..
and KU could have a team like New mexico as the #2 seed in their region?
anything short of the final four would be a disappointment for those reasons, but im yet to see anything to make me believe KU is going to play well enough for 40 minutes to beat a final four caliber team...but then again, there arent that many teams that have looked great this season (duke as a #1 seed? please)..
i sure hope im wrong...maybe they have just been bored waiting for the real tournament to start....

Jayhawks cannot afford a slow start against teams of equal capability. If a team shuts down the KU inside game such that OSU did things could get difficult.
It's not that KU cannot win.........

We got this. rock chalk!!
newmedia (anonymous) says…
Glad 18, to this point in time, Misery and KSU fans took the time to respond. Duh !!
jcstepmom28 (anonymous) says…
KU I think is the by far the best team in the land. Even so, 10-15 teams can beat them on a neutral court, why you got to love the tournament. The three point shot is the great equalizer.
distant_voice (anonymous) says…
Gees, who knows. On any given day, they could make mincemeat out of any team in the tournament. And on any given day they could lose to Slippery Rock. The team can't wait to catch fire until there's only five minutes left in the game, and they have to get up for the little guys.
labmonkey (anonymous) says…
I think they will lose in the Sweet 16. (If I acknowledge a reverse jinx attempt, does it nullify the reverse jinx?)
Uhlrick_Hetfield_III (anonymous) says…
It's hard to believe in this bunch of arrogant underachievers. If they keep up this attitude that they only have to play 4 minutes a game they're going to lose very early on. Self wanted the team to get a label and now it's found one arrogant underachievers. Perhaps lazy, arrogant, underachievers.
Jhammons (Jeffrey Hammons) says…
@Uhlrick
Do you think before you post? And do you read what you post? I believe the answer to both questions is no, because otherwise (hopefully) you would see that what you just said is completely ignorant and far from the truth. What facts do you even have to support your baseless claim? None. We're currently 31-2, ranked number 1 in the nation, and are heading into the Big-12 championship game against a team we have already beat twice earlier in the year.
Is that not good enough for you? I'm sorry they don't make a rank higher than 1. Are you just some poor Missouri or K-State fan who is so angry that we have a better team? Or is it the fact that we have a consistently better team? Do you really feel the need to come to the local newspaper and spout out ignorance just for show? We have the best team in the nation for a reason. Not because we have arrogant underachievers, it's because we have a team full of confident overachievers.
My only hope for you is that come April, when we win another championship, you’ll be so angry you'll have a heart attack. Seems to be the only way you'll ever recover from your ignorance.

That's what UlrHets been saying after every close game all year. Almost as if he's not really a KU fan at all. . . .
riverdrifter (anonymous) says…
Ask UlrHets about Lew -and jump back! I'm thinking mebbe UH got his seats snatched away...
I don't think this team will lose in the tournament. They've been waiting for it since early February.
jcstepmom28 (anonymous) says…
KU is an ugly 13-16-1 against the spread, meaning they are not blowing teams out they are supposed to.
Graczyk (anonymous) says…
That's why you play the games, jcstepmom28.
Bladerunner (anonymous) says…
Its a tough tourney and KU has a habit of letting the opponents stay in the game way to long for being a number 1 team most of the season. Good luck but I'm doubting they will make it past the sweet 16.
Bladerunner (anonymous) says…
Perhaps another fight with the football team will help bring them together as a team and help them focus on their objective.
Jhammons (Jeffrey Hammons) says…
@ Bladerunner
We do have a problem with letting opponents stay in the game too long. But, our last 19 games were against Big XII opponents. We're in the number 1 rated RPI conference in the nation. Which means our opponents are quite good. And our 32-2 record shows that we can still get something done, doesn't it?
I think our team has done a lot of growing, and close games are what make a team good. It shows you what you're made of when it matters most. I would much rather have close games every week instead of blowouts, because come tourney if we've only blown everyone out, how would we react when we're up against the wall and losing to a team near the end of the game? We would fold, because of lack of experience. So all of our close games have given our guys valuable experience and come tourney time i guarantee that our close game experience is what is going to be the difference makers.
For example, look at the '07 Patriots. They went undefeated and stomped almost every opponent. Then come Super Bowl time they met a team that could hold them defensively and they folded under the pressure. Not because they're a bad team, simply because they had gotten so used to rolling through teams, that facing a team that could stop their defense had become almost foreign to them, and they lost.
We're going to make the championship, I can promise that.
LarryNative (anonymous) says…
I wish our team had a bit more of a killer instinct. The way teams hang around until the last few minutes could bite us hard if any team gets hot in the second half. Even though KU might be the best team, statistically, every team has a 50/50 chance to win the rest of their games played after the "Great Eight" teams are bracketed.
Truami (anonymous) says…
If KU only has one enemy (themselves) then I say.... beware of pride.
