I remember back in the day, there was an identification business in the Ramada Inn off 6th Street. All they did was make Kansas identification cards. They looked somewhat official and cost around $5 or so. All that was needed was a birthdate. It was popular for underage high school kids when it was legal to drink beer at 18. Of course I never got one.

And it was so much easier "back in the day" (the 70's). No photo, paper license that could be easily "amended". I think about six of us used the same ID routinely - just passed it around. We worked hard to get that 3.2 beer and Boone's Farm.

I had one back in the 90s. We made them ourselves. Kind of crappy looking, but the bars didn't care. The only bars that did were Free State and Red Lyon. When eight guys from Lousianna walk into the same bars at the same time night after night, you'd think the bouncers would catch on. Well, they didn't care.

Never had a fake ID, might have multiple IDs, but they are all real.

My brother had one. He happened to find an id (I believe on the floor of an 18 and over club if I remember correctly) and the guy looked enough like him, he just kept it.

In the 1950s in the Army you could go to the army base site that took the picture & made the ID card & say you had lost yours & then obtain a new ID card with the date of year that made you 21 yrs old. No proof of age was necessary.

its not Illegal to have a fake ID its illegal to Present that ID as a factual document.

It IS illegal to possess a fake ID. It is NOT illegal to possess someone else's ID.

i have a real one; so why use a fake one? if these kids would stop trying to be older than they are, some would probably be better people today, instead of drunks.

I was one of those weirdos nerds, I guess. I didn't drink until I was legal. Of course, back then you could drink 3.2 beer when you were 18.

The legal drinking age was 18 where I grew up. And that was for all and any alcoholic beverages--I never heard of 3.2 beer until I went to Colorado. They didn't have that nonsense where I lived.
The drinking age was raised to 21 about 15 days after I turned 21. Several younger friends were not so lucky--and the law did not grandfather in anyone who had been drinking legally for some time, so people who were used to going out and having a drink with their friends or picking up some wine for dinner on the way home were suddenly placed in the position of "minors" again.
I always thought that was unfair and that they should've let those people keep their legal status. Often, it wasn't so much about the booze as it was the wish to be with everyone at one of the gathering places back then. The real boozehounds would just go get a fake ID, I'm sure--the only ones who actually stopped drinking in bars when the age changed were the ones honest enough not to obtain one.
