This forum hardly represents Lawrence. Most people in Lawrence don't post here. Most of these posters will find it too hard to move away from their computers to do much of anything. I read and post here at times, but then I go out into the community and find the people of Lawrence are a whole lot different. This is just a place of for the outsiders to whine. Come on downtown tomorrow. There will be lots of people there. Most of them will have left their computers at home.

dandelion - I have met many of the LJW posters and would say they are very representative of Lawrence. Online persona of posters can be very different than the person met face to face, and after meeting these wonderful people I have a whole new perspective on the posts they make! As one who is guilty in the past of making general sweeping assumptions about others, and no doubt will again, I find your 'downtownies are what Lawrence is all about' attitude repulsive/repugnant at the very least. The people you refer to have jobs, businesses, abilities, capabilities and disabilities just like everyone else. I've been known to spend a day or an afternoon downtown myself. For the most part I view it as time lost from what precious little we all have, never to be recovered. Enjoy your day, just don't ask me to waste mine...........

Must admit that for us getting downtown with a handicapped child does create a challenge. Too long of a walk from parking to a place to put chairs. That's ok though, since the noise and explosions scare the pee wad out of her. For our neighbors enjoy the show.
