It's pretty stupid.

Sure they should. Even the best woman basketball player is still not as good and the worst man. Make it easier for them.
coolmarv 4 years, 3 months ago
They should, but only for the KU women who can't seem to score enough in Big 12 play. Year after year after year.

"They should, but only for the KU women who can't seem to score enough in Big 12 play."
The idiots suggestion of cutting the game by ten minutes will take care of the scoring. Unless the shot clock is cut in half. Scores will be very low...

"Omegatron -
You are being entirely too kind. I could only get about halfway through it."
I still don't know how I made it...

think_about_it - your chauvinistic colors are showing.
Why don't you (and I assume you are male) volunteer to go one on one with Brittney Griner and we will see if the best woman is worse than the worst man. Seeing that she can dunk, I doubt it. And she has only been playing basketball for a few years.

The answer is 'no'.
think_about_it 4 years, 3 months ago
It's not chauvinistic mom, it's nature. Men are stonger than women. I do admit Griner may be one small, or tall, exception to the rule.
Omegatron 4 years, 3 months ago
Not about men being stronger then women. Lower the basket and you limit a woman's options for practicing during the off-season.
think_about_it 4 years, 3 months ago
That is assuming that she is a female. Judge for yourself.

Why don't women wear heels while they play to make up for the height of the rim?
charliejohnson 4 years, 3 months ago
NO
Wallythewalrus 4 years, 3 months ago
= pay, =play, = height. NO, NO, and heck NO!
May God bless!
mom_of_three 4 years, 3 months ago
men may be stronger, but does that mean all men can play basketball better than women? HEck, NOOO.
your true colors are still showing
mom_of_three 4 years, 3 months ago
And no, don't lower the height. Not needed.
mom_of_three 4 years, 3 months ago
Candice Parker, Swin Cash, Tameka Dixon, Lynette Woodward, Paris twins, etc, etc.......Take your pick on which one an average man wants to scrimmage, and they wouldn't want any piece of any of them....
Aiko 4 years, 3 months ago
Yes, and while they are at it lets change to a nerf ball!
Omegatron 4 years, 3 months ago
Bottom line. The rules are what they are because they were developed over a period of time through competition.
To now say that the competition rules are to tough a needs to be lowered is a dishonor to all those who made the game what it is today.
People say title IX is antiquated and should be thrown out. Thank god it still around to protect the game from morons like the one doing this poll and article...

Just because KU women have been terrible for years on end now doesn't mean no one watches or attends women's games in the rest of the country. Pretty huge crowds show up in Norman and Stillwater even when the teams are just so-so because their coaches can coach and they do improve. The discussion needs to be how long are we (KU) going to keep Henrickson?
RETICENT_IRREVERENT 4 years, 3 months ago
Can't lower the net now. Nope, Obama signed Lilly Ledbetter Fair Play Act. Next thing you know these girls will be wanting to wear pants.

Basketball is in part a game where height plays a big role. Women will never get the play the same game men play unless the basket is lowered.

Outside of the slam dunk, what do you mean by not the same?
Layups, three point/mid-range jumps shots, free throws, rebounds, there is no difference. No advantages for men over women. The basics are taught the same to everyone regardless of sex.
Only reason to lower the basket is so that girls can dunk period.
