The Lawrence Mothers of Twins Club held their annual Easter Egg Hunt at First Baptist Church on April 9, 2006. Eight families attended the event, there were a total of 23 children, including 16 twins. The club has 40 member families and supports all parents of multiple birth children.

On April 17th Halie Rachelle Gray, a 4th grader at Eugene Ware Elementary in Kansas City, Kansas, was awarded a bike by KDA's District Chairperson Dr. Daniel Ranjbar. Halie is the district winner of the annual drawing contest for National Children's Dental Health Month. The contest, "What You Drink Could Make Your Smile Extinct", emphasized to 4th grade students nationwide, the importance of dental decay from drinking too much pop. Our district covers cities of Lawrence, Baldwin City, Tonganoxie, Eudora and Kansas City, Kansas. With 10 schools that chose to participate, approximately 300 4th grade students in our area got the opportunity to enter the contest and gain a greater understanding of the relationship between excessive consumption of soda pop and tooth decay. Halie's entry was chosen as the 1st place winner! Congratulations Halie!

At the Lexington Trails Middle School Invitational, 8th grader Katie Hirsch has broken her own school record in the 3200 m run for the second time this season with a time of 13:08. Katie Hirsch first broke the Perry Middle School record on April 10th with a time of 13:42 and then broke her own record at the Perry Invitational on April 20th with a time of 13:22.
