“The closer” Likely a No. 1 starter on most staffs around the state, sophomore Ryan Scott has been solid out of the bullpen as the Firebirds’ stopper.
“Hollywood” Saddled with the responsibility of life in the spotlight, senior southpaw Caleb Gress has flashed his competitive fire and held down the Firebirds’ No. 1 position all season.
“The rookie” Although he’s the only freshman on the Firebirds’ varsity roster, Cody Kukuk has made a huge splash this season and has a bright future. “He has a chance to be very special,” Free State coach Mike Hill said.
“The Lown Mower” Known for his ability to mow down opposing hitters, senior Cody Lown has been a key cog in the Firebirds’ starting rotation this season.
