The peanut butter has been linked to a salmonella outbreak that has sickened almost 300 people across the country. Holtaway, an intern at the center, separated the bad peanut butter from the good Thursday at the food pantry, 1423 Haskell Ave.
Lisa Clark, a teacher at Schwegler School, has been training therapy dogs for several years. On Thursday she and Gretchen Boxberger, 8, worked with Clark's latest project, a boxer named Tally. Gretchen is helping raise funds for Clark to attend a therapy-dog training course that will allow Tally to become fully certified.
The microscopic tardigrade, also called a "water bear," is about the size of a speck of dust and lives in all kinds of environments. Baker University has received a $600,000 grant from the National Science Foundation to study the creatures.

JetBlue tried to calm criticism Thursday after passengers were left waiting on planes at a New York airport for as long as 10 1/2 hours during a snow and ice storm. Calling the delays "unacceptable," the airline said in a statement it would offer refunds and free flights to passengers who were delayed on planes for more than three hours.
