The historic Leavenworth County Courthouse at 300 Walnut Street was built in 1911-1913 is on the National Register of Historic Places.
In addition to being a working courthouse, it boasts 4 murals: “Free State” by Ernst Ulmer, “Struggle for Freedom” by Michael Young, “The Harvest” by Bradley P. Seever and ”Untitled” by Kickapoo Logan.
It is also home to a black and white photo collection and the original “Martyrs of ‘56” newspaper articles
