Small World is a non-profit cooperative program that is operated entirely by volunteers. Our mission is to help International women and their children, adjust to the Lawrence community. Small World meets from 9a.m. to 11a.m. Tuesday & Thursday.

Small World helps International women to learn or improve their English. At Small World, we meet new people and form friendships that span cultures and languages. International women improve their English and learn about American customs, and how to get along in Lawrence, Kansas. American women increase their understanding of other cultures and broaden their horizons, as they provide assistance to those trying to adjust to a new way of life. KU students, visiting scholars and faculty/staff are not eligible to enroll in English classes at Small World, but are welcome to join our program as volunteers.

Small World classes do not meet during the summer. Each month throughout the summer an informal social is held to allow our students an opportunity to keep in touch. Prospective students are also welcome to attend the socials.
