Dianne and Don Young

Don and Dianne Young, Franklin, Tenn., celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a dinner hosted by their children Aug. 25 at Starker's Restaurant in Kansas City, Mo.

They were married Aug. 23, 1957, in Wichita. They lived in Lawrence from 1981 to 2001. Don worked as a lineman and supervisor for electric companies in Minnesota, Colorado and Kansas. He also worked for Western Resources in Lawrence and retired in 2001.

Their children are Ken Young, Fort Collins, Colo.; Dawn Wilson, Pleasant View, Tenn.; and David Young, Lawrence.

They have eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.


Morales and Britto

Chad Britto and Carmen Morales

Roy and Dodie Coker, Lawrence, and Chuck Morales, Kansas City, Kan., announce the engagement of their daughter, Carmen Morales, to Chad Britto, son of Giovanni and Denise Britto, all of Lawrence.

Carmen graduated from Lawrence High School in 1998 and received an esthetics license from Johnson County Community College in 2006. She is employed as an esthetician at Lada Salon & Spa in Lawrence.

Chad graduated from Free State High School in 1998 and received his commercial driver's license from North Central Kansas Technical College in 2003. He is employed as a commercial driver at Crown Distribution Center in Topeka.

The couple plan a Sept. 29, 2007, wedding at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Lawrence.


Rueschhoff-Kilpatrick and Sunderman

David Sunderman and Caylen Rueschhoff-Kilpatrick

David and Lisa Rueschhoff, Lawrence, and Mark and Lynn Kilpatrick, Randolph, Iowa, announce the engagement of their daughter, Caylen Rueschhoff-Kilpatrick, to David Sunderman, both of Kansas City, Kan. The future groom is the son of David and Therese Sunderman, Randolph, Iowa.

Caylen graduated from Northwest Missouri State with a Bachelors of Science in psychology.

She is employed as an account manager for Chrysler Financial in Overland Park.

David received an associate's degree in micro support computer specialties from Iowa Western Community College. He is employed as a police officer with the Kansas City, Kan., Police Department.

The couple plan an Oct. 13, 2007, wedding at Broadway Methodist Church in Council Bluffs, Iowa.



Robert and Juanita Marsh

Robert and Juanita Marsh, Lawrence, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a family brunch on Aug. 11 and a surprise open house for friends and family.

The couple were married Aug. 10, 1947, in Hillsdale. They owned M&M Office Supply.

Their children are Craig and Leslie Marsh, Lawrence; Richard and Janet Belote, Marietta, Ga.; and Clark and Linda Cropp, Lawrence.

Mark and Marsha Buhler, and Steve Dillon and Teresa Dillon announce the engagement of their children, Anne Buhler and Paul Dillon, all of Lawrence.

The future bride is a 2000 graduate of Free State High School and received a degree in speech communication in 2004 from Colorado State University in Fort Collins. She is employed as the associate director of development, special events and communications at DeLaSalle Education Center in Kansas City, Mo.

The future groom is a 1999 graduate of Free State. He received a business degree in marketing from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, in 2003. He is employed as a professional sales representative for Shire Pharmaceuticals.

The couple plan a Dec. 1, 2007, wedding at Plymouth Congregational Church in Lawrence.



Barbara and Richard Nelson

Richard and Barbara Nelson, Lawrence, are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary today.

They were married Sept. 1, 1957, in Salina. They have lived in Lawrence for more than 30 years.

Richard worked at Kansas University for 32 years and retired in May 2007. Barbara was employed at the Lawrence Urology Clinic and also retired in May.

Their children are Jeff Nelson, Lawrence; Jay Dee Nelson, Tonganoxie; and Jody Miller, Shawnee. They have six grandchildren.

Ronald and Nancy Burt, Lawrence, announce the engagement of their daughter, Valerie Burt, Lawrence, to Travis Schlotfeldt, Olathe, son of Judy Schlotfeldt, Dodge City, and the late Randy Schlotfeldt.

The future bride graduated from Lawrence High School. She received a Bachelor of Science in human communication sciences from Northwestern University and a Master of Public Health from the Kansas University Medical Center. She is employed by the Johnson County Health Department.

The future groom graduated from Dodge City High School and received a Bachelor of Science in computer science from Kansas State University. He is employed by Generation Technologies Corp. in Overland Park.

The couple plan an Oct. 13, 2007, wedding at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lawrence.



Yunhi and Michael Ediger

Yunhi Cho and Michael Lee Ediger were married June 23, 2007, at the St. Lawrence Catholic Campus Center in Lawrence, with the Rev. Steven Beseau and the Rev. Noel Shin officiating.

The bride is the daughter of the late Sukje Cho and Taeju Yun. The groom is the son of Theresa M. Ediger, Hutchinson, and the late Roland M. Ediger.

The maid of honor was HyeLyung Cho. The best man was Stan Burnham. Bridesmaids were Younwoo Lee and Krissi Butler. Groomsmen were SungKwon Cho and Gerald Butler.

Candlelighters were JuHyun Cho and Anthony Ediger. Ushers were HyunJin Kim and Allen Roberson, who also was a reader. Greeters and guestbook attendants were Seungmi Lee, Soo Koh, William and Tami Ediger, and Patty and Niki Butler.

Vocalist was Soyoun Lim Chun. Pianist was Kyungmi Lee. The cantor and vocalist was Barbara Walker. The organist was Jared Osterman.

A reception followed at the Camelot II Ballroom in Lawrence.

Yunhi graduated from Namsan High School in Daegu, South Korea, and from Yeungnam University, Gyeongsan-si, Gyeongsanbuk-do, South Korea. She was a teacher in Korea before coming to the United States.

Michael graduated from Hutchinson High School and Hutchinson Community College. He received bachelor's and master's degrees from Fort Hays State University. He is employed as associate director of International Student and Scholar Services at Kansas University.

The couple reside in Lawrence.



Renee and David Weeks

Renee Carpenter and David Weeks Jr. were married July 28, 2007, at the South Park gazebo in Lawrence, with the Rev. Gary Thomas officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Gregory Carpenter, Lansing, and Karen Carpenter, Kansas City, Kan. The groom is the son of the late David Weeks Sr. and Mable Jo Smith.

The maid of honor was Samantha Carpenter. The best man was Cody Weeks. The flower girl was Kadi Weeks.

A reception was given at the couple's home in Eudora.

Renee is a 1994 graduate of F.L. Schlagle High School in Kansas City, Kan., and a 2004 graduate of Kansas City, Kansas Area Technical School. She is employed as a licensed practical nurse at Mt. Oread Family Practice.

David is a 1987 graduate of Lawrence High School. He is employed by Sunrise Painting.

The couple reside in Eudora.
