Workers for Sunflower Paving, were on the job at 1 a.m., starting to pave Sixth Street near Downtown Lawrence. By starting so early, crews hoped to not only have the work done earlier in the day — though not in time for morning rush hour — but also to beat the grueling summer heat. Temperatures were in the 80s as work began.
