NTSB says power failure caused plane crash
The National Transportation Safety Board has released more information on last month's fatal plane crash in Leavenworth County. A preliminary accident report says the Aero Commander plane went down because both engines lost power.

Lawyers say hit-and-run charges invalid
Attorneys for a woman charged in the hit and run deaths of two highway workers south of Lawrence last year say the charges should be dismissed because of a double-jeopardy case.

Eudora school district under construction
It seems like nearly all of Eudora is -- or will be -- under construction throughout the summer and fall. For the school district, bond issue construction is well underway on several projects that will be going up over the next two years. 6News reporter Mark Boyle has more on the district improvements.

It's time once again for an annual tradition designed to protect the less fortunate from the otherwise overbearing heat of the Kansas summer. 6News is teaming up with Westlake Ace Hardware to provide fans for the Lawrence Salvation Army to distribute this summer to residents without air conditioning.

KU staffer to compete in U.S. Transplant Games
Mike Strauss is a member of the Orange Bowl champion Jayhawk football team, but the average Kansas fan probably has no idea who he is. As the sports information director of Mark Mangino's staff, Strauss is stuck dealing with reporters on a daily basis. That said, this hard-working KU staffer is a champion in his own right.
