Nope. Ive lived in Lawrence for five plus years and continue to use my 913 number.

We did not change,been in Douglas County since 2005, same number as before.

Have lived in Wyandotte and Johnson counties since 2006, yet I still have my 620 area code phone. So where is the article that is supposed to go with this question so we know why the hell it is being asked?

There should be some explanation for the question, but I would guess it's because of land lines (which are not quite dinosaurs yet, as some areas across the country have no coverage at all.)
Portability is convenient, but anyone with a land line in the local area pays long distance charges to call a cell phone with a number that is not local.
Personally, I think it is a valid question if we take into consideration that when we move to another state we already have to change our driver's license, register our car/change the license plate, and register to vote in that location.

The girl friends number is area code 702. The only thing wrong is that voice mail is on Vegas time.

I have basically unlimited long-distance on my home phone (voip), but still would rather dial 7 than 11 digits.

I was waiting to meet up with a former Lawrence resident in the Hammersmith tube station in London a couple of weeks ago when my phone rang up with a number from the States. WOW! Turns out the former Lawrence resident has a nifty business phone which can call mobile anywhere in the world. I would really love to have that phone regardless of the number.
