Make mine onions and yellow mustard, please!

countrygirl 4 years, 5 months ago

What about us grown ups who don't like mustard?

shaunepec 4 years, 5 months ago

Though the voting is early, results consistent with national numbers. Mustard leads the way with 32%, followed by ketchup with 23%, according to the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council. Yes, there is a National Hot Dog and Sausage Council.

Brown spicy mustard and heavy on the sauerkruat. Maybe a little sweet pickle relish to balance it out but that is it.

Somebody went and told me what was in hot dogs. Haven't eaten one since.

After reading Upton Sinclair's book, "The Jungle", in high school, it put me off of hot dogs for a couple of decades. Just tried them again last summer and they aren't worth it, no matter how much mustard, chili & onions I pour on them. Now a grilled brat is a whole different matter.

Try Nathan's hot dogs. A little more pricey but the taste is so worth it!

The cuzins would like to know why beer is not on the list.

German style stone ground mustard with the little seeds in it.

I seriously miss red franks. Not red hots; red franks. Frick's makes them but no store in this area carries them any longer. Only place I know where to get them now is at Bichelmyer's butcher shop in Armourdale where they make them by hand.

According to Karl, Hank says to eat your wieners on buns with no condiments or else he will kick the snot out of you. http://www.jhuger.com/kisshankbutt.php

No, no catsup. No condiments or Hank will kick the snot out of you, you perv. (this is kidding, humor, ok? I don't want to go the way of spacehog).

I meant this as a reply to blue73harley's post. For some reason that brought to mind the Simpsons episode where Mr. Burns tried shopping for himself... "Ketchup.....Catsup.....I'm in way over my head.....". :-)

Vampires eat their hotdogs with coagulated blood. It's fact.

Are you standing in line for the midnight showing of Eclipse?

jonas_opines 4 years, 5 months ago

Those aren't vampires. They're sparkly leech people.

Hot dogs are my secret vice. I seldom indulge it. I remember the old woolworth counter with bread slice shaped bun, grilled with butter and the dog split , It was like a hot dog sandwich. I use to fantasize about having a woolworth hot dog with a Raney drugstore coke .

One can hope that Miss Nancy will see this and bring them back in her new place. Although no hot dogs there. It's vegetarian only.

Tasty Dogs in Blue Springs MO by City Hall has the best dogs..... period

4% are evidently crazy...you just don't put sauer kraut on a hot dog. that's for polish sausage! sheesh, give 'em books&give 'em books...

Kris_H 4 years, 5 months ago

Hot dogs are bad for you but turkey breast or tofu dogs are disgusting. I'd rather never eat another hot dog than eat either one of those.

Ketchup does not belong on bread, period. It makes the bread soggy and slimy and is only worthy to use in recipes or dip fries in. That's it.

Eating chili and coleslaw on a hot dog is like drinking scotch with cola.

somedude20 4 years, 5 months ago

Do you remember back in the 80's there were these hot dogs called "frankenstuff" that had chili (which was really gross have no idea what that meat was made of) or cheese in them. My pops would microwave those god awful things in a paper towel creating a rubbery tough "meat" filled meat stick and it sucked

Grey Poupon mustard and lots of sauerkraut. If there's no sauerkraut, then store-bought relish is OK. Some of my best hot-dog eating memories are while walking across sections of New York City, and stopping at those vendors for a hot dog with mustard and sauerkraut on it. Sometimes walking with my little girl who now is nearly 21, and I think she just took ketchup (catsup for you language purists). Anyway, sure glad this important topic came up and happy to offer my 2 cents worth.

bearded_gnome 4 years, 5 months ago

list doesn't include ... sauteed garlic!

sauerkraut lus garlic plus hefty mustard ... yummmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

Au Marche has wonderful sauerkrauts.

yes Trin, I do put this on hot dogs, though more often on Brats and polishes and other sausages. smoke sausage pretty good too.

edjayhawk (anonymous) says…

I don't eat them because they are bad for you. I will eat a tofu or turkey breast dog.

---tells us all we need to know about edjayhawk. apparently he is protein deficient, you know that causes the brain to shrink. lol.

Brats are what I eat, but if I were to, hypothetically, eat a hot dog, it would be with mustard, and relish and onions.

Ricky_Vaughn 4 years, 5 months ago

Mouse turds for sure. Hebrew National makes a fine hot dog!

scopi_guy 4 years, 5 months ago

The only people who put ketchup on a hot dog are Texans and mental patients. Heard from Hank Hill.
