A fairy ring is actually the result of an underground network of fungi. The subsequent mushrooms pop up in a circular pattern because the underground fungi spreads equally in all directions.
The legend has it that fairy rings sprouted up in a circle to allow toads and other woodland creatures a place to hold roundtable discussions.

The ladies luncheon for the Lawrence High School men was held May 23 in the cafeteria as a “thank you” lunch to the men who prepared breakfast for the ladies at semester break. Retiring teachers Joan Starks, and Deb Engstrom and Friedemann Eisert (not pictured), were honored. Pam Fangohr, Lisa Werner, Julie Vineyard and Martha Oldham were on the luncheon committee. End of the year activities included teacher awards and fun activities.
