Lawrence was full of movers on Saturday as students, parents and friends moved tons of stuff. Many renters’ leases are up at the end of July.

The previous record for weight was 1.67 pounds for a stone in Coffeyville in 1970.
The Lawrence Board of Education recently recognized Bud Stallworth and Craig Butler, back row, and Ed Brunt and Willie Amison, all of Lawrence, as Lawrence Public Schools’ Outstanding Citizens of the Year. The four men founded the “Can We Talk?” mentoring program for young black males at Lawrence High School. The program has since expanded to Free State High School and Central Junior High.
