Adolfo Garcia-Nunez, the 46-year old ex-boyfriend of Jana Lynne Mackey, was a Lawrence artist who also went by the name Fito Garche. Suspected in Mackey's slaying, he was arrested in Elizabeth, N.J., where he apparently committed suicide in his holding cell. Garcia-Nunez had been convicted of battering another ex-girlfriend in a 2004 incident.
Jana Lynne Mackey, A 25-year-old second-year law student at Kansas University, was found slain Thursday at the home of her ex-boyfriend. She had worked as a lobbyist for the National Organization for Women and was a volunteer advocate for the Ga Du Gi Safe Center. A celebration of her life is planned for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Liberty Hall, 642 Mass.
Scene of the arrest: Police say Adolfo Garcia-Nunez fled Lawrence after the slaying in his Ford F-150 pickup. His truck was found unoccupied, and he was arrested in Elizabeth, N.J., pictured below. Garcia-Nunez drove with his 18-year-old son and 19-year-old daughter to New Jersey, where his children's mother lives.
Scene of the crime: Jana Lynne Mackey's body was found late Thursday at the home of Adolfo Garcia-Nunez, 409 Mich. Mackey and Garcia-Nunez had recently broken off a relationship.

After hitting a double against the Hot Tamales, LGFPA 10u Rebels player Corey May steals 3rd. Their game was played on June 24th at Broken Arrow. The Rebels went on to win 8-4.
