The Interstate 70 bridges over the Kansas River, a "fracture critical" bridge, is scheduled to be replaced in 2008 because of deterioration in some of the steel elements. The bridges get inspected every year.

Collapsed sections of the Interstate 35W bridge lie in and next to the Mississippi River. The eight-lane bridge in Minneapolis collapsed during the Wednesday evening rush hour, plunging dozens of cars and people into the murky water below. At least nine deaths were confirmed.
Honeybees aren't as prevalent in the United States as they once were, and that could pose an expense to U.S. agriculture. They provide an estimated $14.6 billion dollars worth of free labor each year when they pollinate our gardens, orchards and crops.

Although researchers are working on medicines to make the bees more resistant to disease and Congress is passing bills to protect them, some scientists point out their plight could spur the resurgence of native bee species.
