Here at Natural Pet Food & Supply we believe that nature knows best. Dogs and cats have only been eating commercial pet food for around 70 years. For generations beyond number before that they were hunters. They still have the same DNA as their wild counterparts.
For this reason dogs and cats should not be required to use plants as their only protein source. Their bodies are not made for this. Most pet foods use corn, wheat, soy or rice gluten as a protein source. This can cause a host of problems in the animal including but not limited to, scratching, ear and eye infections, IBD/IBS, etc.
Another thing found in most pet foods is by-products. Some by-products are okay while others are not. The key is to figure out whether or not the food has good stuff or bad stuff. The generic term, by-product is just that, generic. There is no way of determining the quality or even the source of the ingredients.
Another red flag in pet food is the generic term, Animal...(meat and bone meal, by-product, digest) They do not even know what kind of animal the ingredient comes from so it is literally mystery meat. Yummy!
