We went there for dinner and got seated right away. We got our food about 5 mins after we ordered. The service was great. The meat was straight but the sides were actually really good I thought. All things considered it was a good time and good food, my girlfriend especially enjoyed it. Didn't experience anything that the negative reviews wrote about. Thumbs up.

The food is good, not great. The service is terrible. Very very slow. While you may have 2-3 waitresses waiting on customers there is always at least 2 employees gossiping at the door. The prices of the meals are in line to attract the average person but the average person doesn't have an hour and a half for lunch. Instead of "famousdavesgm" replying with apologies and excuses on this message board why don't they try to fix the issues.

Just a warning!! Do not pay for your meal using a credit or debit card at Famous Daves. My co-worker went there with her family Friday night and their tab came to close to $100 which she paid for using a debit card. Not only did Famous Daves take the $100 out of her account but they took it out SIX times over a matter of three days. She has been on the phone all day trying to get this huge mess straightened out. The Lawrence manager, Hazim (sp?), was extremely rude to her and hung up on her. I heard their conversation and can't believe he's a manager. She then called the corporate offices and was told it had been a computer glitch and that they had done that to 1,000 people. She was told it would take 48 hours to fix!!! So, if you went to Famous Daves last Friday and paid with a debit or credit card you should check your account.

This happened to my husband and I on Sunday. Had I not got online to check my bank account, I would never have noticed. They tell you there is nothing they can do but wait it out until the accountant has it straightened out. It's completely ridiculous!! We will NEVER go back.

We’ve identified the problem, worked quickly to resolve it and fully expect all guests to be reimbursed in the next few days. We went there for lunch and really enjoyed it. Servers took great care of us and the food was good. Maybe some initial teething troubles after the opening which have now been addressed? We'll definitely be going back.

Bill Fowle Famous Dave's Bar-B-Que

Went to watch the 1st Round KU Tournament Game here with some friends on Friday evening (18th). Ended up being the absolute worst restaurant/dining experience I've had in over 20 years of eating in Lawrence. Plus, the bar area is entirely too small and not nearly enough TVs for a college town (especially during March Madness).

DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU WANT TO HAVE FUN AND ENJOY YOURSELF...

We were excited to hear that you joined us for the big game and are very sorry to hear about your experience. We understand that our bar area is small, but we have made accommodations to the area to the north of the bar to expand bar sitting with TV's. We want to encourage sports fan to come out and watch the games & we have some exciting lat night menus items and drink specials coming your way, but we also want to make sure that we keep the tradition of Famous Dave's alive and keep the restaurant family friendly. We look forward to a new year of KU sports and are working on other options to accommodate for the bigger games. We look forward to seeing you again and appreciate your feedback.

loboc Famous Dave's Bar-B-Que

I love catfish but the catfish strips at Famous Daves are more like catfish nuggets that you can buy at our local markets. Each strip had about as much meat as a chicken nugget. Hardly a "strip" and not worth the price they charge. Lawrence is not a very forgiving town when it comes to bad service or bad food. There have been a lot of places that have come and gone because of that very reason. There is a list on the wall of Boarder Bandito. Anybody eaten at Pizza Street lately?

We have been open for a while now & encourage you to come back in and try us and we apologize for the time delay in the replies. We have been working very hard to keep the food quality consist with other Famous Dave's and unfortunately dropped the ball on keeping the catfish fingers at the appropriate size. Was really excited to find famous dave's had made it to lawrence, when I arrived I was given a booth with no server, after about 15 minutes of waiting, I was told that the best way to get service was to sit at the bar because there where no servers for the table I was sitting at, I went to the bar where my service WAS quick as there where about 5 server/bartenders. Unfortunately I was given utensils that had been used by a previous patron, as it was missing a fork and had barbecue sauce all over the napkin. I had to raise my hand to get the attention of a server five feet away from me to get utensils that had a fork. There were a few small apologies for seating me without a server and for not having fresh utensils, but there was no offer to comp, say, a drink, or give a small discount for the inconvenience which was frustrating because the woman next to me apparently was getting a full meal on the house from the manager. This all should be expected I guess as lawrence has kind of become synonymous with poor customer service. I undertipped and left. To bad too. I'm a big fan of famous dave's food.
