Investigation Process

Investigation Process

Our investigative process begins with an interview with the client to determine relevant past and present events that could be related to current conditions. The interview is combined with a visual inspection to determine areas of concern. Observations are followed with air and surface sampling and oftentimes temperature, relative humidity, carbon monoxide, and carbon dioxide measurements. A moisture meter is available to measure moisture content behind walls or ceilings. Many times the exterior is examined to investigate a cause of exterior water or moisture intrusion.

The data collected is analyzed and detailed in a report describing observations, sample results, conclusions, and recommendations
for remediation.

Samples are analyzed by skilled laboratory staff by direct microscopy using 400x to 1000x magnification. Spores are identified to the genus level based on visual characteristics (size, shape, attachment scars, septations, texture and color).

Lab results from mold sampling are usually ready within 3-4 business days of sample date. A full written report is usually available 7-10 business days following receipt of sampling results. Our goal is to have all information to the client 14 days (2 weeks) from the date of the assessment.
