Flory and Heard

Levi and Savannah Flory

Levi Flory and Savannah Heard, both of LaHarpe, were married Oct. 9, 2010, at Rosie’s Cabin in Uniontown with the Rev. Adam Stang officiating.
The bride is the daughter of John Heard, LaHarpe, and the late Corina Heard.
The groom is the son of Stan and Michelle Flory, Lawrence, and Julie Darrah, Manhattan.
Maid of honor was Cara Bolling. Best man was Brett Dawes. Bridesmaids were Gina Norman and Robyn Schmitz. Groomsmen were Pete Flory and Michael Maloney. Flower girl was Jenna Miller. Ringbearer was Ethan Hunter.
A reception followed at the cabin.
The couple reside in LaHarpe, where they own and operate TLC Garden Center-Landscape and Design.

Robert and Pearl Henrikson

A reception will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. June 25 at First Southern Baptist Church, 4300 W. Sixth St., Lawrence, to celebrate the marriages of the Petersons, Henriksons and Pesnells. The mother and daughters will celebrate their marriages with friends and family.
Rosie and Edwin Peterson, Louisburg, Mo., formerly of Eudora, would have celebrated 70 years in May. Mr. Peterson died Feb. 14, 2011.
Pearl and Robert Henrikson, Louisburg, also formerly of Eudora, will celebrate 50 years this September.
Kay and Leon Pesnell, Eudora, will celebrate 40 years this December.

Beverly and Darrell Jensen

Beverly and Darrell Jensen, Lawrence, were given a surprise party for their 50th wedding anniversary on June 12 in Topeka.
The couple were married June 18, 1961, in Lawrence.
Darrell was in the U.S. Air Force for 3 1/2 years. He worked at OTASCO for 18 years and later retired from Fleetwood Mower and Rental. Beverly worked at Coast to Coast and then Cottin’s for seven years.
They have a daughter, Tammy Hobbs, Topeka; two sons, Tony Jensen, Baldwin City, and Roger Jensen, Lawrence; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Clay Discher and Katie Stiles

Joe and Becky Stiles, Lawrence, along with Alan and Ann Discher, Kansas City, Mo., announce the engagement of their children, Katie Stiles, Kansas City, Mo., and Clay Discher, Tulsa, Okla.
The future bride is a 2002 graduate of Lawrence High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from William Jewell College in 2006 and is the nursing admission counselor at William Jewell.
The future groom is a 2003 graduate of North Kansas City High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business from William Jewell in 2007 and is the director of student athlete development for the University of Tulsa basketball team.
The couple plan an Aug. 13, 2011, wedding at First Southern Baptist Church in Lawrence.

Leah Cummings and Brian Collins, Lawrence, were married June 5, 2010, at Kansas University Dance Pavilion with the Rev. Peter Luckey officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Ernie and Debby Cummings, Lawrence.
The groom is the son of David and Charlotte Collins, Danville, Pa.
Maid of honor was Elise Schnose. Best man was Wes Cannon. Bridesmaids were Laura Anderson, Michelle Beracha, Katie Boogher and Sonia Jarboe. Groomsmen were Michael Chatman, Justin LaTessa, Peter Pearce and Derek Scott. Readers were Drew Cummings and Julie Krische. Ushers were Drew Cummings and Don “Red Dog” Gardner.
A reception was given at the KU Alumni Association.
The bride is a graduate of Lawrence High School. She earned bachelor’s degrees in political science, journalism and strategic communications from KU, and a master’s degree in political management, with a concentration in fundraising, from George Washington University. She is a strategic adviser at Grizzard Communications.
The groom is a graduate of Lawrence High and earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and accounting from KU. He earned a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Georgia and is a senior marketing manager at Spalding.
The couple reside in Bowling Green, Ky.

The future bride is a 2008 graduate of McLouth High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree with a dual major in biblical studies and biblical counseling from Calvary Bible College in May.
The future groom is the son of Brian and Charlene Hardee, Ozawkie. He is a 2005 graduate of Solid Rock Christian School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in biblical exposition from Moody Bible Institute in 2009 and will earn a master’s degree in theology from the University of Bonn this year.
The couple plan a July 29, 2011, wedding at Rock Creek Bible Church in Meriden.

Curtis and Cleda Dalton

Cleda and Curtis Dalton, Lawrence, will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary on Wednesday.
They were married June 22, 1941, at First Presbyterian Church, Lawrence.
The couple met in high school. After serving in World War II, Curtis worked at the Lawrence Paper Company for 39 years.
They have two daughters, Diane Williams, Fort Collins, Colo., and Suzanne Lutz, Lawrence.

Wiley and Gwen Mitchell

Gwen and Wiley Mitchell, Lawrence, will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary on Monday. Due to a current family illness, a reception will be held at a later date.
The couple were married June 20, 1946, at the First Methodist Church in Miamisburg, Ohio.
They have two daughters, Nancy Mitchell Moore, Branson, Mo., and Kathy Mitchell, Middlesboro, Ky.; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

The future bride is the daughter of Jim and Gale Mathis, Chesterfield, Mo. She is a 2000 graduate of Lafayette High School in Chesterfield. She earned a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Central Missouri, in Warrensburg, in 2004 and is an elementary school teacher in Kansas City Kansas School District.
The future groom is the son of Robert Skaggs II, Scranton, and Sandra Herschell, Kansas, Okla. He is a 1997 graduate of Lawrence High School and is a regional truck driver for The Mens Wearhouse in Lenexa.
The couple plan a summer 2012 wedding in Kansas City, Kan.
