Traffic stuck on Iowa Street

Motorists had problems driving north up the steep grade on Iowa Street near 19th Street in Tuesday's blizzard. One city employee helped spread some sand by shovel to assist and one pick-up driver pulled another pick-up truck and a semi-trailer truck up the slick street.

Plows hit streets as snow piles up around Lawrence

Lawrence street crews were hitting the streets hard Tuesday morning as heavy snow moved into the area. Though primary streets remained passable, residential streets had quickly become snowpacked. With many cancelations already reported, just a hearty few were on the streets.

Winter snow storm moves into Lawrence

The National Weather Service has issued a blizzard warning for Douglas County. Flurries began falling shortly after midnight Feb. 1 and winds picked up to about 20 miles per hour. By Tuesday evening, the NWS has predicted heavy snowfall Tuesday morning through late Tuesday night with total snow accumulations of 10-14 inches.
